I first came into contact with irrigation as a method of removing ear wax during my time as a community nurse. This was roughly nine years ago. Sadly, the service is not as widely available on the NHS as it once was.
This lead me to establishing an ear wax removal service that is quick, safe and effective. We offer you microsuction as well as irrigation. You are given a choice as to which method of wax removal you would prefer (alongside my advice). You are in full control of your care and it improves the chances of a successful outcome.
What is Ear Wax Removal?
Our ears are self cleaning but on occasion this mechanism fails and we require professional ear wax removal. Ear wax is a combination of oils and dead skin. It’s natural purpose is to protect our ears from harm. Some people require ear wax extraction on acregular basis but for a lot of people it is a one off occurance. Once the wax is removed it often resets the cleaning process allowing the ears to self manage again.
Is ear wax removal safe?
Ear wax removal is considered a safe produre if performed by an appropriately qualified professional. I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Royal College of Nursing (RCN). In April 2019, I was formally trained in ear care at CIty University, London. After which I was mentored for a period of six months to build up my experience. I have since been practicing independently.
Do I need to do anything before my appointment?
Current British guidelines state you should apply olive oil three to five days prior to your appointment. This gives the highest chance of a positive outcome. It is not compulsary that you wait this long if you are in significant discomfort so please do call or email us if you want a same day appointment.
